Perhaps the most remarkable aspect of growing easter lilies is that they are completley programable. In this photo, an identified plant is being measured for both height and advancement.

To determine the plants height we simply measure the present height and graph it against the desired finishing height and adjust temperatures or apply growth regulators as required. To determine advancement, the number of leaves left to unfold are counted. This tells us how quikly we must grow the plant in order for the buds to ripen at just the right time before easter. The easter lily is a vigorous grower. Healthy plants will develop strong roots very quickly.
